Step into a heartwarming culinary journey where simple meals mend broken hearts and forge unexpected bonds. High school math teacher Kouhei Inuzuka finds his life upended following the passing of his beloved wife, leaving him to navigate the overwhelming responsibilities of single parenthood. Despite his best efforts to provide for his adorable young daughter Tsumugi, Kouhei struggles immensely in the kitchen, often relying on hastily bought convenience store bento boxes that lack both warmth and proper nutrition. Their quiet struggle takes a joyful turn during a chance cherry blossom viewing, where a tearful encounter with one of Kouhei's own students, Kotori Iida, changes their routine forever.

Kotori, whose mother owns a popular restaurant, possesses a deep passion for food despite her own complicated relationship with cooking. Moved by the father-daughter duo's reliance on instant meals, Kotori invites them to her family's establishment, sparking a weekly tradition of gathering around the stove. This unlikely trio transforms raw ingredients and clumsy kitchen mishaps into comforting feasts, proving that the secret ingredient to any meal is the company you share it with. This poignant dinner table drama explores grief, growth, and the quiet magic of domestic life through every steaming bowl of rice and shared smile.

At the heart of the story is Kouhei Inuzuka, a dedicated educator whose stoic demeanor melts completely when it comes to his cherubic daughter, Tsumugi. Tsumugi herself is a bundle of infectious energy and toddler curiosity, capturing readers' hearts with her genuine reactions to new flavors and her innocent wisdom. Rounding out the trio is Kotori Iida, a mature yet anxiety-prone high schooler who finds a renewed sense of purpose and confidence as she teaches the well-meaning teacher how to handle a kitchen knife and balance flavors. Together, they create a surrogate family unit that heals each other's emotional wounds one recipe at a time.
