Taro Sakamoto used to rule the underworld as the most feared legendary hitman in history. Criminal syndicates whispered his name in absolute terror, while fellow assassins studied his every move with awe. Everything changed the moment he crossed paths with an ordinary convenience store clerk named Aoi. Smitten and ready for a complete lifestyle change, Sakamoto walked away from the blood-soaked life of contract killing, choosing marriage, domestic bliss, and the quiet joy of fatherhood instead.

Years of peaceful neighborhood living and home-cooked meals have left the once-impenetrable legend carrying a bit of extra weight, turning him into a jolly, chubby family man who runs a local corner shop. Yet, the shadows of his past refuse to stay buried. When bounties are placed on his head and assassins start tracking him down to his quiet neighborhood, Sakamoto must use his unmatched combat instincts to protect his beloved wife and daughter. This high-octane action comedy follows an unconventional hero as he proves that grocery store management and brutal martial arts defense go surprisingly well together.

Key Characters and Dynamics

Taro Sakamoto anchors the series as the retired legendary assassin. Despite his unassuming, overweight appearance and easygoing demeanor, his razor-sharp reflexes and lethal precision remain entirely intact. Whenever danger threatens his family, he shifts instantly into a blur of unstoppable action, neutralizing threats while desperately trying to avoid damaging his own storefront.

Shin Asakura works alongside Sakamoto as his loyal employee. As a talented young esper who can read minds, Shin provides hilarious commentary on Sakamoto's eccentric habits and deadpan reactions. Their dynamic drives much of the comedy, especially when Shin has to anticipate invisible threats and keep his chaotic boss out of unnecessary trouble.
