Step into a tactical sci-fi battleground where strategy completely overpowers brute force. When massive otherworldly invaders known as Neighbors suddenly pour through dimensional gates into Mikado City, modern weapons prove entirely useless against them. Humanity survives only thanks to Border, a mysterious defense organization that reverse-engineered alien technology to create Trion-powered combat systems. The series shifts the battle shonen paradigm away from endless power scaling, focusing instead on clever team tactics, precise positioning, and deeply calculated military engagements.

The narrative primarily follows Yuma Kuga, an enigmatic humanoid Neighbor who crosses into our world, alongside Osamu Mikumo, a conscientious Border agent whose weak Trion levels force him to rely on sharp intellect and tactical planning. When these two form an unlikely alliance with the talented sniper Chika Funahashi, they establish Tamakoma Second. Their ultimate goal requires surviving the grueling internal politics of Border, climbing the competitive rank wars, and venturing back into the dangerous Neighbourhood dimension to rescue missing loved ones.

Key Characters and Dynamics

Osamu Mikumo serves as the tactical anchor of the series. Despite lacking the raw power typical of shonen protagonists, his unwavering sense of justice and exceptional strategic mind allow him to outwit physically superior opponents by turning the environment to his advantage.

Yuma Kuga provides the lethal combat edge and carefree counterweight to Osamu. As a veteran fighter from the other side of the dimensional gate, Yuma possesses incredible combat skills and a black trigger, yet he chooses to fight alongside Border to honor a promise made to his father.

Chika Funahashi completes the trio with her unprecedented Trion reserves, capable of unleashing devastating sniper fire across massive distances. Together, the dynamic between Osamu's brain, Yuma's combat experience, and Chika's overwhelming firepower creates a masterclass in squad-based tactical warfare.
